Who it fits

The standard Levoit Core 400S is one of the category's clearest choices when you need resolved medium-room airflow and genuinely useful connected control together. Levoit Australia publishes 433 m³/h CADR, 38 W, VeSync control, AirSight Plus sensing, schedules and automatic operation.

Best fit when

• the room fits the 433 m³/h class;
• app control, schedules and PM2.5-driven Auto Mode will be used;
• you want the standard non-ionising Core 400S filtration path rather than Plasma Pro.

Not ideal when

• the room needs substantially more throughput;
• a simpler local-control purifier would be easier to own;
• you are shopping specifically for the separate Core 400S Plasma Pro.

What changes the decision

433 m³/h is the useful sizing anchor

Levoit's current Australian page gives the standard Core 400S 433 m³/h CADR. The separate 90 m² effective-range figure is manufacturer guidance without a harmonised ACH basis.

This is a control-workflow product as much as an airflow product

VeSync, Alexa/Google Assistant, Auto/Sleep modes, schedules, filter-life monitoring and AirSight Plus can reduce day-to-day friction. If you would run the purifier manually on one setting, much of that advantage disappears.

Keep Core 400S and Plasma Pro separate

Levoit currently presents Core 400S and Core 400S Plasma Pro as different choices. The standard model here uses pre-filter, True HEPA and ARC Formula activated carbon with no governed ionisation stage. Plasma Pro features are not transferred across.

The noise figures describe different contexts

The technical specification block says 28–54 dB, while Levoit's FAQ separately says Sleep Mode can reach 24 dB. PIQSY keeps those contexts separate rather than collapsing them into an unqualified 24–54 dB range.

Power and maintenance support ownership, not ranking

Levoit publishes 38 W and recommends filter replacement around 6–8 months, depending on use. Those figures help ownership planning but do not establish a universal running-cost winner.
