PIQSY Guide
Best Tablets for Students Australia: Study Workflow First
A student-tablet decision guide covering pen inclusion, note-taking, portability, ecosystem and screen-size trade-offs across PIQSY's governed Australian shortlist.
The decision this guide answers
Which Tablet configuration best fits a student's study workflow once pen inclusion, required apps, storage, portability and screen size are treated as decision gates?
A student tablet should be chosen around the work it must do every week: handwritten notes, PDFs, browser research, video calls, file storage and the apps required by the course. Paying for unused flagship capability is not automatically a better study decision.
Decide whether handwriting is core
Galaxy Tab S10 Lite and Galaxy Tab S10 FE both include an S Pen in the exact governed reference. Lenovo Idea Tab 11 includes Lenovo Tab Pen in PIQSY's exact Australian ZAFR0827AU package, while Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 includes Pen Plus in its exact ZAHD0096AU package.
iPad A16 supports compatible Apple Pencil models, but a Pencil is not included. That makes accessory cost part of the study setup even though the base iPad remains a strong general-purpose Apple route.

Lowest-cost included S Pen
Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 LiteStudy, note-taking and mainstream Android buyers who value an S Pen in the box and expandable storage without needing the stronger FE or flagship Galaxy Tab platform.
Samsung
Balanced included-pen Samsung
Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FEStudents, note-takers and mainstream Android buyers who want an included S Pen, expandable storage and IP68 durability with more performance headroom than the S10 Lite without moving to Samsung's flagship tablet tier.
Lenovo
Paper-like reading + notes
Lenovo Idea Tab 11Students, readers and mainstream Android buyers who value a matte paper-like display, pen-in-package study workflow and expandable storage more than high-end performance.
Lenovo
Large matte study workspace
Lenovo Idea Tab Pro Gen 2Students, creators and Android productivity buyers who want a large matte high-refresh workspace, substantially more performance headroom, Pen Plus in the exact package and expandable storage without moving to a premium OLED tablet.
For ordinary study, avoid buying the benchmark
iPad A16 is the straightforward choice for students already committed to iPadOS and mainstream study apps. Galaxy Tab S10 Lite is the lower-complexity Samsung pen route. S10 FE adds 8GB memory on the reference, IP68 and a stronger midrange platform when the workload is broader.
Idea Tab 11 is attractive when reading, annotation and reduced glare matter, but its exact reference has 4GB memory and USB 2.0; those are meaningful ceilings for heavier multitasking.
When a 13-inch screen earns its weight
Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 is less handheld-friendly at about 598g, but the 13-inch 3.5K matte 144Hz screen, 12GB/256GB reference, microSD and included Pen Plus create a different class of study workspace. It makes more sense for frequent split-screen work, long PDFs and desk use than for a buyer who wants the smallest object in a backpack.
Storage and connectivity can be hard gates
Both Samsung references here support microSD expansion. Idea Tab 11 and Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 also support microSD. PIQSY's iPad A16 reference is fixed internal storage and Wi-Fi, although cellular family variants exist.
If a course requires a specific desktop application, confirm platform compatibility before choosing any conventional tablet. A tablet that cannot run a required application is not rescued by a better display or pen.
PIQSY conclusion
Start with iPad A16 for mainstream Apple study, S10 Lite for the simplest included-S-Pen Samsung path, S10 FE for the more capable all-round Samsung option, Idea Tab 11 for matte-screen reading and annotation, and Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 for a larger desk-oriented study workspace.
The final choice is an editorial fit judgement; current price should be checked separately.
