The Galaxy Tab S10 Lite is the Samsung tablet to consider when handwritten notes matter, an S Pen in the box matters, and you do not need the stronger hardware and durability proposition of the Tab S10 FE. It is not a cut-down flagship so much as a study-and-mainstream Android tablet built around useful pen capability from day one.

The Australian model we checked is SM-X400NZSAXSA — 10.9-inch, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, Wi-Fi, Silver. Samsung lists the S Pen in the box, along with a USB Type-C data cable, ejection pin and quick-start guide. The bundled S Pen is the S10 Lite's clearest reason to exist

Samsung includes the S Pen in the box. That is materially different from a tablet that merely supports a stylus as an extra purchase. Samsung also positions features such as Solve Math and Handwriting Help around pen-led study and note workflows.

For a student or frequent note-taker, this removes one bundle ambiguity at purchase: the version reviewed here already includes the pen. It does not include a keyboard, so typing-heavy buyers should still compare the complete accessory setup rather than assuming the S10 Lite arrives as a laptop-style package.

The exact 6GB/128GB reference still gives you expandable storage

The 128GB Wi-Fi configuration has 6GB of memory. Samsung's 256GB family configuration moves to 8GB, and both tiers support microSD cards up to 2TB.

That means the Lite can be flexible about file storage without pretending the two memory tiers are interchangeable. A buyer keeping large offline libraries can add removable storage later, while a buyer who specifically needs 8GB RAM must choose the correct 256GB configuration rather than inferring it from the family name.

Samsung's current AU information also lists security updates for the exact Wi-Fi reference through 31 August 2032. That is useful context for a tablet intended to span several school or study years, while remaining a current manufacturer commitment rather than a promise that every future Android feature will arrive.

The Wi-Fi reference must stay separate from the 5G family

Samsung sells separate Galaxy Tab S10 Lite 5G variants in Australia, but SM-X400NZSAXSA is the Wi-Fi reference. Under the frozen Tablet rule, family-level 5G availability can satisfy a preference signal but a Wi-Fi SKU and its price cannot satisfy a cellular-required buyer.

• Choose the iPad A16 when iPadOS, Apple services and Apple's app/accessory ecosystem matter more than an included pen and removable storage.
• Choose a desktop-oriented device when high-bandwidth wired I/O, desktop software or keyboard-first work is non-negotiable; USB 2.0 and the tablet-first bundle are the wrong foundation for that job.

The Lite is most coherent when included-pen study value matters more than flagship hardware.

Do not choose it because the word "S10" makes it sound interchangeable with the S10 FE or flagship S-series tablets. The Lite has a TFT panel, USB 2.0, 6GB RAM on the reference configuration, no keyboard in the box and a lower hardware ceiling. Those are acceptable compromises when note-taking and everyday use dominate the purchase; they are reasons to step up when durability, performance or higher-end workflow capability is the actual requirement.

Its strongest case is therefore complete pen-led usefulness at the lower Samsung S-series tier, with the limitations left visible.
