Best Heater for Allergies: Fan-Free Heat vs a Heater-Purifier

Fan-free heating and air purification are different decisions

Oil-column heaters and fan-free convection panels do not use a room fan to force heated air around the space. That can fit a household that simply dislikes noticeable heater airflow.

But fan-free does not mean filtered air. A heater does not remove airborne particles merely because it has no room fan, and PIQSY does not assign medical benefit to fan-free architecture.

If the real requirement is particulate filtration, assess a genuine purifier or heater-purifier on its filtration evidence rather than treating low-airflow heating as a substitute.

Dragon5 and Radia S: fan-free oil-column heat

De'Longhi Dragon5 Connect and Radia S both use fan-free oil-filled radiator architecture for sustained room heating.

Dragon5 adds My Comfort Hub scheduling and automatic power modulation. Radia S uses local electronic controls and a 24-hour timer. Current exact Australian evidence now explicitly verifies tip-over auto-off and Safety Thermostat for both models, so the older distinction that Radia S had stronger explicit safety evidence is no longer valid.

Neither product is an air purifier.

Noirot and Ausclimate: fan-free panels with wall-placement flexibility

Noirot 7358-7TPRO and Ausclimate ACPH915 are 2000W fan-free convection panels that can be wall mounted or used freestanding.

Noirot supports Wi-Fi scheduling, child lock, anti-frost mode and thermal safety cut-off. Its current exact-model evidence does not verify a tip-over switch.

Ausclimate adds five heat settings, app/voice control and explicitly verified tip-over plus overheat protection. Its governed owner-evidence pool includes substantial incentive/Ambassador contamination, so that sample is not used as an allergy, health or reliability score.

Neither panel filters room air.

Dyson HP2: choose it only when purification is actually part of the brief

Dyson HP2 De-NOx is materially different because it combines electric heating and fan airflow with a fully sealed HEPA H13 purification system. Its governed exact-SKU evidence also supports gas/odour treatment, enhanced NO2 treatment and formaldehyde destruction functions.

The product is therefore relevant when you need heating and genuine air purification in one appliance. Its fan airflow is not refrigerated air conditioning, and the purification system does not make the heater medically therapeutic.

PIQSY also keeps Dyson's room figures separate: the governed 81m³ purification context is not converted into an 81m³ heating claim; the heating-test context is separately recorded at 35m³.

Do not use airflow preference as a proxy for medical effectiveness

A person may prefer fan-free heat because they dislike blown air, or may want filtration because they are concerned about airborne particles. Those are legitimate appliance preferences.

They are not the same as proving that a specific heater will improve allergy, asthma or other respiratory symptoms. This guide therefore describes airflow and filtration capabilities, not clinical outcomes.

If symptom control or a diagnosed respiratory condition is the primary concern, appliance selection should sit alongside appropriate health advice and broader environmental management.

The decision

Choose Dragon5, Radia S, Noirot or Ausclimate when the requirement is fan-free heating and the main goal is to avoid forced heater airflow; then choose between oil-column versus panel placement and the control/safety workflow you need.

Choose Dyson HP2 when a real purification requirement exists alongside heating. Do not buy a heater-purifier merely because “allergies” appears in the shopping brief if filtration is not actually required.
