Who it fits

The Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP2 De-NOx only makes sense as a heater recommendation when you genuinely want three jobs in one appliance: heating, year-round fan airflow and advanced air purification.

Its version checked record combines heating, 10 airflow settings, 350-degree oscillation, fully sealed HEPA H13 filtration, gas/odour treatment, enhanced NO₂ capture, formaldehyde destruction, MyDyson app support, voice control, Night mode, tip-over protection and overheat cut-outs.

That is a very different proposition from a conventional heater. The HP2's value comes from consolidating appliances, not from being the simplest or most economical way to warm a room.

The main compromise is ownership complexity. Filters need replacing, the appliance remains fan-driven, and buyers who only need heat are paying for hardware and software they may never use.

What changes the decision

Is purification a real requirement or just an attractive extra?

Dyson's exact Australian model uses a fully sealed HEPA H13 filtration system and includes gas, odour, NO₂ and formaldehyde treatment functions.

Those capabilities are the clearest reason to choose HP2 over a conventional heater.

If you already own a suitable purifier or do not need one, much of the product's differentiated hardware becomes redundant. Heating alone is not enough to justify the architecture.

The purchase becomes easier to justify when one appliance genuinely replaces both a heater and a purifier in a room you use all year.

Do you understand what “Hot+Cool” means?

HP2 heats in winter and provides fan airflow in warmer weather.

It does not use refrigeration and is not an air conditioner.

That distinction matters because buyers expecting the appliance to reduce room temperature like an air conditioner will be disappointed. Its summer role is air movement, not active cooling.

If true temperature reduction is the goal, a dedicated air conditioner is the correct product class.

Is fan noise compatible with how you use the room?

Dyson lists a 63dB maximum sound specification, alongside 10 airflow settings and Night mode.

That figure is useful context, not a guarantee of perceived noise at every setting.

If the product will run beside a bed and your hard requirement is no fan noise, a fan-free panel or oil column is the better architecture regardless of HP2's purification capability.

Night mode may improve the ownership experience, but it does not turn a fan-driven product into a fan-free one.

How should you read the room figures?

The current record stores 81m³ purification coverage under Dyson's POLAR method and a separate 35m³ heating test-room context.

Those numbers describe different functions and test conditions.

PIQSY does not combine them into a claim that HP2 both heats and purifies an 81m³ room. Keeping the figures separate is essential to understanding what each one actually means.

The practical question is whether the room fits the intended use case for both functions, not whether the larger of the two numbers can be applied to everything.

Do connected support and software features matter to you?

HP2 supports the MyDyson app and compatible voice services, and Dyson documents connected support through at least 31 December 2031.

That is unusually explicit support information for a connected appliance.

It does not mean every cloud feature or third-party integration is guaranteed to remain identical for the whole period, but it gives buyers a clearer software-support horizon than most heaters provide.

If you do not want app-linked ownership at all, this support commitment has little practical value and a simpler heater may be more appealing.

Are you comfortable with the filter-maintenance ownership model?

The purification system relies on replaceable filter media.

That means the product is not maintenance-free after purchase. Filter replacement becomes part of the long-term ownership cost and routine.

The version checked warranty is two years, while current owner-history evidence is still developing. The available review source is for the older HP09 predecessor series and is not transferred into an HP2 reliability score.
