Decision reasoning
Why the choice changes.
The decision
Choose De'Longhi Radia S TRRS1224E.G if you want fan-free oil-column heating with straightforward on-unit digital control and a programmable 24-hour timer without adding Wi-Fi or an app to the routine.
Choose De'Longhi Dragon5 Connect if you want remote app control, scheduling and automatic temperature management and those connected controls solve a recurring need.
What changes the choice
The heating architecture is broadly the same
Both are 2400W fan-free oil-filled radiators intended for sustained room heating rather than instant directed warmth. Both have electronic temperature control, castor-based mobility and a seven-year manufacturer warranty.
Radia S uses 12 fins, three power settings, Eco mode, child lock and a programmable 24-hour timer. De'Longhi lists a 15.59kg product weight and manufacturer working-capacity guidance of 72m³.
Dragon5 Connect uses 10 fins, three automatic power levels plus Eco, and weighs 16.82kg. De'Longhi states room guidance up to 75m³ and a ±0.5°C temperature-control capability. Those room and precision figures are manufacturer specifications, not independent proof that one heats a real room better than the other.
Safety is no longer the deciding difference
The previous version of this comparison treated Radia S as having stronger explicit safety documentation. That distinction is now obsolete.
Current exact Australian De'Longhi specifications list Safety Auto-Off Tip Over Switch and Safety Thermostat for both Radia S and Dragon5 Connect. Radia S also lists child lock, and the current Dragon5 record likewise supports child lock.
PIQSY therefore does not use safety-documentation completeness to declare a winner between these two models.
The real difference is how you control the heater
Radia S keeps the workflow local: set temperature and power on the heater, then use its 24-hour digital timer when you want a repeatable heating window.
Dragon5 Connect adds My Comfort Hub app control over 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, remote scheduling and automatic power modulation. That is useful when you genuinely want to manage the heater away from the unit or build heating around a connected routine.
More connectivity is not automatically better. If you normally adjust the heater while you are in the room, Radia S avoids the extra connected-device layer without giving up the core oil-column format.
PIQSY conclusion
Buy Radia S if: local timer/thermostat control is enough, you prefer the simpler non-Wi-Fi workflow, or the slightly lower verified weight matters.
Buy Dragon5 Connect if: remote scheduling, app control and automatic power modulation are recurring requirements rather than occasional novelties.
If your main priority is fast personal heat, neither is the natural first choice; a ceramic fan heater is the more relevant architecture to compare.
