What changes the choice
Read Shark's 130 m² claim with its 1-ACH basis attached
Shark states 130 m² at 1 ACH and about 28 m² at 4.8 ACH for HP300ANZ.
Those figures describe the same purifier under different turnover assumptions. For repeated particle removal, the 28 m² at 4.8 ACH context is more informative than treating 130 m² as evidence of extra-large-room high-throughput performance.
Core 400S gives you a resolved CADR
Core 400S has a resolved current Australian 433 m³/h CADR. HP300 has no governed published CADR.
Shark's CADR is not reverse-engineered from area, ACH or wattage. When transparent clean-air delivery is important for sizing or smoke-turnover comparison, Core 400S has the cleaner numerical evidence.
Shark's ownership proposition is the long filter interval
Shark advertises the NeverChange5 filter for up to five years under stated GB/T18801-2015 P.CCM conditions, including a 50% CADR-decline endpoint, 300 sq ft and 12 hours daily use on maximum fan speed.
Core 400S follows a conventional replaceable-filter cycle. The Shark claim is a meaningful maintenance differentiator, but it is conditional rather than a guaranteed five-year interval in every household, and current replacement-filter prices are not frozen into a durable winner.
Their control systems suit different habits
Core 400S provides VeSync app control, schedules, PM2.5 sensing and automatic operation.
HP300 uses Clean Sense IQ to track PM1, PM2.5 and PM10 and adjust locally, but the governed exact model has no app control. The choice is remote connected workflow versus local set-and-forget automation.
Wattage does not settle the comparison
HP300's governed rated power is 54 W and Core 400S is 38 W. Electrical load is not a clean-air performance score, and actual running cost depends on duty cycle and tariff.
Current purchase price, ratings, review volume and affiliate economics are also excluded from the durable recommendation.
When HP300ANZ is the better fit
Choose Shark when the conditional long-filter-life proposition and local particle sensing solve the ownership problem, and you are comfortable sizing without a published CADR.
When Core 400S is the better fit
