Pump Drainage or High-Capacity H13 Hybrid?
Decision snapshot
Start with the fit, not the spreadsheet.
De'Longhi
De'Longhi Tasciugo AriaDry Dehumidifier 30L
Best fit: Pump-assisted drainage for awkward installations
Biggest reason: Integrated heavy-duty pump
Main compromise: 54dB(A) manufacturer noise claim is higher than several smaller shortlisted models
Ionmax
Ionmax Rhine Pro 50L Smart Compressor Dehumidifier & Air Purifier
Best fit: Very-high-capacity smart H13 hybrid use
Biggest reason: 50L/day nominal extraction without HEPA
Main compromise: 18.3kg weight

Decision reasoning
Why the choice changes.
What you'll actually notice
Choose DD230P when an integrated condensate pump solves the installation problem. Choose ION651 when very high nominal extraction, Wi-Fi and H13 purification are the priorities.
These are both high-capacity machines, but they are not trying to solve the same first problem. DD230P is built around condensate handling: 30L/day at 32°C/80% RH, continuous drainage and an integrated pump. ION651 is a much larger hybrid proposition with 50L/day nominal extraction, 40L/day with HEPA, H13 filtration, PM2.5 monitoring and Wi-Fi.
That means a pure “which extracts more?” comparison misses the point. One product can change where you are able to send the water; the other can change how much moisture and particle cleaning you can handle in a large space.
What changes the choice
These products solve different first-order problems
DD230P is rated at 30L/day at 32°C/80% RH and adds an integrated condensate pump. ION651 is rated at 50L/day nominally without HEPA and 40L/day with HEPA, but the Australian information we checked does not state the test temperature and humidity behind the 50L/day headline.
Pump drainage is unique to the De'Longhi in this pair
DD230P supports continuous drainage plus a heavy-duty pump. ION651 supports continuous drainage but no pump. If condensate must be lifted to a less convenient drain point, that installation difference can outweigh every other feature.
ION651 is the connected purifier hybrid
ION651 adds H13 HEPA, 300m³/h CADR, PM2.5 monitoring and Wi-Fi. DD230P has no verified Wi-Fi and is not a purifier hybrid. Those are fundamentally different ownership propositions.
Installation can matter more than the headline capacity gap
The ION651 carries the larger nominal extraction figure, but that does not solve the DD230P's specialist problem: moving condensate when gravity drainage is awkward. If the drain point requires a pump, the De'Longhi's installation advantage is decisive even before smart control or filtration enters the comparison. If gravity drainage is easy, the pump matters much less and the ION651's H13 filtration, PM2.5 monitoring and Wi-Fi become stronger reasons to accept its larger footprint.
What this means: installation can override capacity. A pump is valuable only when the condensate route needs lifting or otherwise cannot rely on gravity. H13 filtration and PM2.5 monitoring are valuable only when air cleaning is genuinely part of the job. Each machine carries specialised hardware that should earn its place.
Switch when: choose DD230P as soon as pump-assisted drainage becomes a hard installation requirement. Choose ION651 when gravity drainage is workable and the larger room genuinely needs the hybrid's much higher extraction, CADR and connected monitoring.
The practical choice
Start with a sketch of the room and drain. If the hose route requires a pump, DD230P can be the better fit even though ION651 has the larger nominal extraction figure. If the drain is easy, remove the pump from the decision and ask whether you actually need H13 filtration, PM2.5 monitoring and the larger 18.3kg platform.
This is one of the clearest examples in the category where the biggest number is not a shortcut. The correct choice comes from installation and the second job you expect the appliance to do.
There is also a maintenance-and-complexity angle. The DD230P's specialist hardware is the pump; ION651's specialist hardware is the filtration and monitoring system. Neither is inherently better. Choose the complexity that solves a problem you actually have. If you would not use the pump or the purifier features, both products may be more machine than the job requires.
When to choose De'Longhi DD230P
Choose DD230P when pump-assisted drainage is a hard installation requirement and 30L/day high-capacity dehumidification is sufficient.
DD230P is the specialist to choose when condensate routing would otherwise compromise the installation. Its lack of Wi-Fi and purifier features matters less when the pump is solving a problem the ION651 cannot solve. If the pump is unnecessary, its specialist advantage quickly shrinks.
When to choose Ionmax ION651
Choose ION651 when the space needs very high nominal extraction and you also want H13 filtration, PM2.5 monitoring and app control.
ION651 is the stronger route when the unit can drain normally and the room genuinely benefits from the larger hybrid platform. H13 filtration, 300m³/h CADR, PM2.5 monitoring and Wi-Fi are meaningful additions only when you will use them; otherwise they add size and complexity.
Choose neither when
If you need a quieter bedroom-oriented unit, a compact smart machine or a simple non-hybrid dehumidifier with no pump requirement, both are more specialised than necessary.
Choose neither for a bedroom-oriented, frequently moved or simple humidity-only brief. Both are specialised high-capacity appliances, and a smaller conventional compressor may fit better when pump drainage and H13 purification are both unnecessary.
PIQSY conclusion
DD230P is the drainage-engineering choice; ION651 is the large-space smart-purifier choice. The right winner is determined by installation and air-treatment needs, not by the larger headline litre figure alone.
