Ask two questions, not one

PIQSY separates:

  1. Do I want to avoid indoor camera hardware?
  2. Do I value documented security assurance or a software-update commitment?

A camera-equipped product can have documented security controls. A camera-free product can still be cloud-connected.

Security assurance does not make a camera disappear.

Q7T+ is the current positively verified camera-free route

The current exact-model Q7T+ record states cameraPresent=false and Video Manager=false, with LiDAR navigation.

That makes it the strongest current “avoid camera hardware” route in PIQSY's 13-product set.

This is a positive evidence rule: PIQSY does not award camera-free credit simply because a product page fails to mention a camera.

Unresolved is not camera-free

Xiaomi X20+ has LDS plus structured-light obstacle avoidance, but PIQSY's current exact-model evidence does not resolve camera hardware either way.

Qrevo EdgeC also has an unresolved camera field in the canonical record.

Neither receives camera-free credit. That does not mean either definitely has a camera; it means the current evidence is not strong enough for a privacy pass.

T50 OMNI: RGB camera present, Video Manager unavailable

T50's current exact Australian record identifies an RGB camera alongside structured-light obstacle sensing.

The same record lists Video Manager as unavailable.

Those are separate facts. The correct description is not “camera unresolved” and not “camera-free”; it is camera present, Video Manager unavailable.

X8, T90 and X11 include camera plus Video Manager

The current canonical records for X8 Pro OMNI, T90 Pro OMNI and X11 OmniCyclone identify camera hardware and Video Manager.

That may be useful to shoppers who want those connected features. It also creates a different privacy profile from a verified camera-free robot.

Curv 2 Flow: RGB camera plus a separate TÜV security signal

Qrevo Curv 2 Flow has an RGB camera plus structured-light sensing.

Roborock also documents a TÜV cybersecurity signal for the exact model.

Both facts should remain visible. A shopper who accepts cameras but values documented security assurance can view the TÜV evidence positively. A shopper who wants no camera should not.

Saros 20 is also camera-equipped

Saros 20's current canonical record explicitly identifies camera hardware.

Its low-profile and threshold advantages therefore do not create a camera-free privacy advantage.

Dreame X50 and Aqua10: camera hardware plus documented update support

X50 Ultra and Aqua10 Ultra Roller use camera-based obstacle systems.

Dreame's current canonical records also document software-update support through 4 March 2029 for both models.

That is a useful security-support signal. It is not a guarantee of zero future vulnerability and does not remove the camera trade-off.

Practical connected-device checks

Before buying, identify:

  • whether camera hardware is verified present, verified absent or unresolved;
  • whether remote-view/video functionality exists;
  • what the current app/privacy policy says about data collection and sharing;
  • what permissions you can disable;
  • whether security updates or certification are documented;
  • how account security is configured;
  • how to remove the device/account association when the product is sold or discarded.

Australian privacy guidance for smart connected devices similarly emphasises checking privacy/security credentials and configuring settings rather than assuming defaults are appropriate.

Do not turn privacy into a brand score

PIQSY does not collapse camera presence, Video Manager, certifications, update windows and historical brand reputation into one opaque number.

The architecture should map to the shopper's preference:

  • avoid camera → require positive camera-free evidence;
  • accept camera but value security assurance → consider documented certification/update support;
  • no strong privacy preference → do not add or subtract Fit simply because a product has more connected features.
