Why the choice changes.
The decision
These are both credible smaller-room purifiers, but they solve the ownership problem differently.
Choose the Levoit Core 300S when VeSync control, schedules and PM2.5-driven automation will genuinely change how you run the purifier.
Choose the Coway Airmega 150 when you would rather have simple local automatic control, a lower published minimum-noise figure and Sensitive Choice accreditation.
What changes the choice
Their airflow is close enough that the room should decide first
The governed Australian figures are 258 m³/h CADR for Core 300S and 281 m³/h for Airmega 150. Coway's figure is higher, but a 23 m³/h gap is not enough to turn this into a simple performance ranking.
Both belong in a smaller-room conversation. Room volume, desired turnover and the fan speed you will actually tolerate matter more than the headline difference, and the manufacturers' square-metre claims are not presented on a common cross-brand ACH basis.
Core 300S earns its place through connected control
Core 300S supports VeSync app control, schedules, PM2.5 sensing and automatic operation. Airmega 150 also offers PM2.5 sensing and automatic operation, but there is no governed app path for the exact model.
That makes Levoit the clearer fit if remote control or scheduling removes real friction. If you expect to leave the purifier in Auto mode and rarely touch it, the smart advantage becomes much less important.
Airmega 150 has the stronger low-noise paper case
Coway publishes 20–52 dB for Airmega 150; the governed Core 300S range is 24–56 dB.
That supports a quieter-on-paper minimum for Coway without proving it will be quieter at every equivalent airflow. These are manufacturer operating figures, not a PIQSY laboratory head-to-head.
Sensitive Choice strengthens Coway's allergy-focused case
Airmega 150 carries Sensitive Choice approval and uses pre-filter, activated carbon and GreenHEPA particle filtration. Core 300S uses pre-filter, particle filtration and activated carbon but does not carry that accreditation in the governed record.
The accreditation can matter to an allergy-focused shortlist. It does not increase CADR or guarantee a medical outcome.
Maintenance and wattage do not create a reliable shortcut
Both products use conventional replaceable filtration. Current filter prices are mutable, so they do not set the durable recommendation.
Core 300S also has a current official 23 W versus 39 W rated-power ambiguity. Airmega 150's governed maximum is 35 W. Those figures are ownership context, not a defensible performance or running-cost winner here.
When Core 300S is the better fit
Choose Levoit when app control, schedules and remote automation are features you expect to use regularly, and 258 m³/h is appropriate for the room.
When Airmega 150 is the better fit
Choose Coway when you value a lower published minimum-noise figure, Sensitive Choice accreditation and an app-free set-and-forget workflow, with 281 m³/h fitting the room.
When neither is the obvious fit
Move up the category when the room needs materially more clean-air delivery. If your decision depends on specialised quantified gas treatment rather than general particle + carbon filtration, neither product's positioning answers that requirement by itself.
PIQSY conclusion
This is less about 258 versus 281 m³/h than about how you want to live with the purifier. Core 300S is the connected choice; Airmega 150 is the simpler, quieter-on-paper allergy-oriented choice.
Neither should win because of current price, ratings or marketplace popularity.
