Who it fits

The Ninja SL400 DoubleStack is the strongest fit when horizontal bench width is the kitchen constraint, but giving up two substantial cooking zones is not acceptable.

It takes the same broad 9.5L equal-zone idea as the Ninja AF400 and changes the appliance shape rather than the cooking proposition. The SL400 stacks two 4.75L drawers vertically into a body that is only 28.6cm wide. That can be genuinely useful in a narrow kitchen, but it comes with an equally real trade-off: the appliance is 48.8cm deep and 38.5cm high.

Choose it when a conventional side-by-side dual fryer is too wide, two similarly sized foods are common, and your bench has enough depth and overhead clearance for the stacked form.

It is a weaker fit when front-to-back depth is the tighter constraint, when you prefer simple side-by-side access, or when one large uninterrupted cooking area would be more useful than two fixed drawers.

The 28.6cm width is the reason the SL400 exists

The SL400's most meaningful specification is not 9.5L. It is 28.6cm of horizontal width while retaining two substantial zones.

That can solve a very specific kitchen problem. The Ninja AF400 is 41.5cm wide, so moving to the stacked layout saves 12.9cm of horizontal bench width without shrinking the two 4.75L drawers.

If width is not a constraint, however, that architectural benefit loses much of its value. The SL400 should not be chosen simply because “stacked” sounds newer or more advanced.

Narrow does not mean small overall

The full dimensions are 28.6cm wide × 48.8cm deep × 38.5cm high. The SL400 therefore trades one dimension for the others rather than becoming universally compact.

That distinction matters in kitchens with shallow benches, low cabinets or limited room in front of the appliance. A 28.6cm-wide unit can still be awkward if nearly 49cm of depth projects too far forward or if the upper drawer is uncomfortable beneath cabinetry.
