Who it fits

The MOVA E40 Ultra is for buyers who want the robot and dock to take over more of the routine floor-care workflow, not just empty the dustbin. Its station self-empties, washes the mop pads and dries them with hot air, while the robot adds dual spinning mops, ultrasonic carpet detection and manufacturer-stated 10.5mm mop lift.

That makes it a materially more automated mopping setup than a vacuum-first self-empty model such as the Roborock Q7T+. The trade-off is that “full-service” still means owning water tanks, a dust bag, mop pads, brushes and a dock that need periodic attention.

Best for

Choose it when mop washing and drying are recurring chores you genuinely want the dock to automate, and when mixed hard-floor/carpet use makes carpet detection and mop lifting relevant.

Not ideal for

It is a weaker fit when you only need vacuuming plus self-emptying, when you want to minimise dock complexity, or when you are treating a suction number or an obstacle-avoidance label as proof of superior real-world cleaning.

What changes the decision

The dock automates three repetitive jobs, not ownership itself

The E40 Ultra station combines self-emptying, automatic mop washing and hot-air mop drying. MOVA also lists a 4.5L clean-water tank and 4.0L used-water tank.

That is the core reason to choose this architecture: you spend less time emptying the robot and manually washing damp mop pads after routine runs. You still need to refill and empty the station tanks, replace the dust bag when required, clean the dock and maintain brushes, filters and mop pads.

Carpet handling is better evidenced than the old Verdict suggested

MOVA's current exact-model product material now explicitly states ultrasonic carpet detection and 10.5mm mop raising, alongside automatic suction boost on carpet. That makes the previous “carpet mop separation is not firmly established” wording outdated.

The useful conclusion is narrower than the marketing claim: the E40 Ultra has verified manufacturer-stated mop-lift hardware. PIQSY does not turn that specification into a guarantee that every thick, uneven or high-pile carpet will remain dry in every home.

Obstacle avoidance exists, but its architecture matters

The current Australian specification lists LDS plus single-line laser obstacle avoidance. That is meaningful because the robot is designed to detect and navigate around objects rather than relying on mapping alone.

It is not a licence to assume perfect cable, sock or toy recognition. PIQSY treats the sensor architecture as a capability fact, not as independent evidence that it will outperform every camera- or structured-light-based system.

Clearance and thresholds are more useful than headline suction

The governed record lists the robot at 97mm high and MOVA states 22mm obstacle-crossing height. Those measurements can directly change fit: check furniture clearance and the height of transitions the robot must cross.

MOVA's Australian page currently shows 19,000Pa in its headline and specifications, while a footnote on the same page refers to 18,000Pa. Because that exact Australian source is internally inconsistent, PIQSY does not use suction as a recommendation or cross-brand performance input for this Verdict.

The Owner Evidence layer is now materially stronger

The current governed base review bundle contains 106 eligible exact-model owner signals: 99 positive, one mixed and six negative, producing a HIGH-confidence evidence readout.

That is a substantial improvement over the earlier thin sample. It supports a more useful ownership-confidence layer, but it still does not become a reliability score, a popularity score or an input to durable Match ranking.

The written warranty is useful; optional accessories still need separating

MOVA's current Australian warranty policy gives the Robot Vacuum Series three years on the main body and listed dock/base components, with one year for the battery pack. Consumables such as filters, mops and brushes are excluded.

The E40 Ultra can use an automatic cleaning-solution dispenser module, but the governed exact-model record classifies automatic detergent dosing as not built in and its current positioning evidence identifies the dispenser as optional. Do not treat automatic detergent dosing as a standard built-in E40 Ultra capability.

Who should choose something else

Choose the Roborock Q7T+ when the main automation you want is self-emptying and you are comfortable with a much simpler mop workflow. Its governed architecture does not include automatic mop washing or drying.

Choose the ECOVACS DEEBOT T50 OMNI when low furniture clearance is the harder constraint. Its governed record lists an 81mm robot height, versus 97mm for the E40 Ultra, while retaining a full-service dock architecture.

Neither alternative is universally better. The useful question is whether you are solving for simpler ownership, lower clearance, or the E40 Ultra's combination of full-service dock automation and mixed-floor hardware.

Choose the E40 Ultra when self-emptying, mop washing and drying, carpet detection and mop lifting remove chores or mixed-floor friction you expect to encounter repeatedly.

Who should not

Skip it when a simpler self-empty robot already solves the problem, when dock upkeep is something you want to minimise, or when your decision depends on an independently proven cleaning-performance advantage that the manufacturer specifications alone cannot establish.
