What matters

Why it earns consideration — and why you might skip it.

Who it fits

Choose the De'Longhi PACEL110ERFWIFI when you want a 2.9kW refrigerated portable air conditioner with built-in Wi-Fi, app/voice control and Eco Real Feel, and you have a practical window or door route for the exhaust hose.

Skip it if heating is mandatory, if inverter compressor control is a hard requirement, or if the 32.7kg unit will need to be carried between floors regularly.

De'Longhi markets this capacity for medium rooms, but PIQSY does not convert that phrase into a universal room-size guarantee. Heat load, glazing, insulation, ceiling height and local conditions still change the result.

Best fit when

  • shoppers who will actually use app or voice control rather than treating it as a spec-sheet extra;
  • rooms where a 2.9kW cooling-only portable unit fits the cooling requirement after heat-load and installation constraints are considered;
  • households that value dehumidification, fan-only mode and Eco Real Feel alongside cooling;
  • same-floor movement where castors and integrated handles are useful.

Why it fits

  • 2.9kW / 11,000 BTU/h cooling with three fan speeds
  • Built-in Wi-Fi plus app, Alexa and Google Assistant control
  • Eco Real Feel plus 35L/day stated dehumidification
  • Exact AU dimensions, weight and sound-pressure figures are published by De'Longhi

Trade-offs

  • Cooling only; no reverse-cycle heating
  • Fixed-speed rather than inverter compressor control
  • 32.7kg limits true carry-around portability
  • Requires an exhaust hose and suitable window/door venting route

What changes the decision

The PACEL110's strongest reason to choose it is control convenience, not category-leading cooling capacity.

De'Longhi combines Wi-Fi/app control, Alexa and Google Assistant support, a 24-hour timer, remote control and Eco Real Feel. Eco Real Feel uses temperature and humidity information to manage comfort automatically.

If those controls will rarely be used, they should not outweigh a better-matched cooling capacity, heating requirement or installation fit.

Cooling role: use the stated capacity, not a room-size promise

De'Longhi specifies 2.9kW / 11,000 BTU/h of cooling and three fan speeds.

That gives a defensible capacity reference. It does not prove that every room described as “medium” will cool equally well. A sun-exposed apartment room with large glazing can impose a very different load from a shaded, insulated room of similar floor area.

PIQSY therefore treats stated cooling capacity as an input to Product Fit rather than translating it into a guaranteed square-metre result.

Venting and installation are hard gates

This is a refrigerated portable air conditioner, not a fan or evaporative cooler. It removes heat from the room and must reject that heat outside.

De'Longhi lists an included window kit, a 1,200mm venting hose and 150mm hose diameter. Before buying, confirm that the intended window or door arrangement can accept the kit and that the hose can reach without forcing an impractical layout.

If you cannot create a sensible exhaust route, the correct decision is usually to reconsider the installation or the appliance category rather than run the unit unvented.

Dimensions and placement

De'Longhi publishes the unit at 750H × 450W × 410D mm and 32.7kg.

Those are the machine dimensions, not the full installed footprint. The exhaust hose, window connection and access around the unit add practical space, so measure the intended position as an installed system rather than drawing a 450 × 410mm rectangle on the floor.

Castors and integrated handles help with movement across a level floor. They do not make a 32.7kg appliance a good choice for routine stair carrying.

Noise and sleep use

De'Longhi publishes a 47–50dB(A) sound-pressure range and markets Silent Technology.

That is useful exact-model evidence, but it is not enough to label the PACEL110 universally “quiet”. Portable AC noise depends on operating state and measurement conditions, and sound-pressure figures should not be directly ranked against another model's sound-power figure.

For bedroom use, treat the published range as evidence to compare carefully—not a promise that compressor operation will be unobtrusive for every sleeper.

Dehumidification and condensate

The PACEL110 includes a dehumidifying function, and De'Longhi states 35L/day dehumidification under its test condition. It also lists a condensate recycling system.

Those features can be useful in humid weather, but the dehumidification figure is a laboratory-rated capability rather than a promise that a room will lose 35 litres of moisture every day in normal use.

Follow the manufacturer instructions for condensate handling rather than assuming recycling means drainage can never be required.

Controls and connectivity

The control stack is unusually complete for this shortlist:

  • built-in Wi-Fi and mobile-app control;
  • Alexa and Google Assistant voice control;
  • LED interface;
  • remote control;
  • 24-hour timer;
  • Eco Real Feel temperature-and-humidity management.

This is the part of the product that most clearly separates it from simpler fixed-speed portable ACs.

Portability, maintenance and storage

For room-to-room movement on one level, the castors and handles are meaningful. At 32.7kg, “portable” should still be understood as movable rather than carry-friendly.

The exhaust hose and window-kit pieces also need somewhere to go when the unit is moved or stored. PIQSY does not invent a model-specific filter-cleaning interval where the governed product record does not state one; use De'Longhi's instructions for cleaning, drainage and off-season storage.

Owner feedback supports the decision only after Product Fit is established.

The current governed context includes an exact PACEL110ERFWIFI listing at The Good Guys, where eight substantive confirmed-purchase records were retained as analysed Owner Signals. Appliances Online is kept separate because its exact-model page contains syndicated-origin review content, and the Amazon AU exact-ASIN pool currently contributes listing context rather than analysable review-text signals.

Do not use the retailer aggregate, Amazon rating or review count to override the product's cooling, installation or heating fit.

How PIQSY analyses reviews

Low-confidence evidence is published as directional qualification only. Exact-model eligible signals stay separate from larger listing pools, and popularity or rating volume never affects Product Fit or Match Fit.

Who should choose something else

Not ideal when

  • you need reverse-cycle heating;
  • you specifically want an inverter portable AC;
  • there is no workable exhaust-hose route to outside;
  • you expect a portable AC to behave like a silent bedroom appliance;
  • frequent stair carrying is part of the plan.

Not ideal when

The AU PACEL110ERFWIFI is not a reverse-cycle heater and is not an inverter-compressor model.

It also does not eliminate the core portable-AC compromise: a hose still has to exhaust heat outdoors.

Better alternatives

De'Longhi GentleJet PACAP140IGENTLEJET

Choose the GentleJet when inverter compressor control and higher 3.7kW stated cooling capacity matter more than PACEL110's verified built-in Wi-Fi workflow. Its manufacturer sound-pressure evidence reaches 43dB(A) in the governed record, but that still should not be turned into a universal “quiet” guarantee.

Midea MPPD33H

Choose the Midea MPPD33H when reverse-cycle heating is a hard requirement. Its proposition is fundamentally different: one portable appliance for cooling plus heat-pump heating, rather than the PACEL110's cooling-only smart-control focus.

PIQSY conclusion

Buy the PACEL110ERFWIFI when its 2.9kW cooling role fits your requirement, the exhaust route works, and app/voice control plus Eco Real Feel are features you will use.

Skip it when heating, inverter control, easier stair portability or a different cooling-capacity requirement is more important.

Current price should only break a tie after those fit questions are settled.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

Does the PACEL110ERFWIFI heat as well as cool?

No. The governed AU record identifies it as cooling-only, with dehumidifying and fan-only functions but no reverse-cycle heating.

Can I use it without venting the hose outside?

That is not a sensible refrigerated-AC setup. The unit must reject heat outside through its exhaust path; De'Longhi supplies a hose and window kit for that purpose.

Is 47–50dB(A) quiet enough for sleep?

It is an exact manufacturer sound-pressure range, not a universal sleep-suitability guarantee. Sensitivity to compressor/fan noise varies, and measurement methods matter when comparing models.

How much space does it need?

The machine itself is 750H × 450W × 410D mm. Allow additional practical space for the exhaust hose, window connection and access; the body dimensions are not the complete installed footprint.
