De'Longhi PACEL110 vs GentleJet: Smart Control or Inverter Cooling?

Compare De'Longhi PACEL110ERFWIFI and GentleJet PACAP140IGENTLEJET on 2.9 vs 3.7kW cooling, inverter control, Wi-Fi, noise evidence, weight and venting.

The decision

Should I choose PACEL110 for built-in smart control and Eco Real Feel, or GentleJet for 3.7kW cooling, inverter control and stronger lower-bound sound-pressure evidence?

Decision reasoning

Why the choice changes.

Quick decision

Choose the PACEL110ERFWIFI when built-in Wi-Fi, app control, Alexa/Google Assistant and Eco Real Feel are more useful than inverter compressor control.

Choose the PACAP140IGENTLEJET GentleJet when 3.7kW stated cooling, inverter modulation and the lower 43dB(A) Silent-mode sound-pressure specification matter more than verified built-in connectivity.

Neither is a reverse-cycle heater, and neither solves a room that has no practical exhaust route.

Capacity is a real difference: 2.9kW vs 3.7kW

PACEL110 is rated at 2.9kW / 11,000 BTU/h. GentleJet is rated at 3.7kW / 14,000 BTU/h.

That 0.8kW gap is more meaningful than a tiny headline-spec difference, but it still does not create a universal room-size answer. Heat load depends on glazing, insulation, sun exposure, ceiling height, occupants and climate.

If 2.9kW already gives appropriate headroom, buying the larger unit solely because the number is higher is not automatically better. If the room genuinely needs more capacity, GentleJet has the stronger specification.

Inverter control is GentleJet's architectural advantage

PACEL110 is governed as fixed-speed. GentleJet uses an inverter compressor.

That gives GentleJet the ability to modulate compressor output rather than relying only on conventional fixed-speed cycling.

PIQSY does not translate that into a guaranteed cross-brand or cross-room energy-saving percentage. The durable difference is the compressor architecture itself.

PACEL110 has the clearer connected-control advantage

PACEL110 has verified built-in Wi-Fi, mobile-app control, Alexa and Google Assistant support, plus remote control and a 24-hour timer.

It also includes Eco Real Feel, which De'Longhi positions around temperature-and-humidity management.

GentleJet's current Australian governed record does not verify equivalent built-in Wi-Fi or voice control. If app or voice control is mandatory, PACEL110 is therefore the cleaner fit.

Noise: compare the evidence carefully

These two are unusually useful to compare because De'Longhi publishes sound-pressure figures for both.

PACEL110 is listed at 47–50dB(A) sound pressure. GentleJet's governed specification reaches 43dB(A) in Silent mode, with a 43–50dB(A) range in the product record.

That gives GentleJet the stronger lower-bound manufacturer noise evidence. It does not prove that every user will perceive it as quiet in every room or that compressor noise will be unobtrusive for every sleeper.

Weight barely separates them

PACEL110 weighs 32.7kg. GentleJet's governed record is about 31.3kg.

GentleJet is lighter, but the difference is small relative to the total mass of either appliance. Both should be treated as rollable on one level rather than convenient for routine stair carrying.

The installed footprint is also larger than the cabinet dimensions because each needs exhaust hardware and a window/door connection.

Dehumidification favours GentleJet on the rated specification

PACEL110 is rated at 35L/day dehumidification. GentleJet is rated at 73L/day.

Those are test-condition capacities, not promises that a normal room will yield those amounts of water every day. They are still useful for distinguishing the rated moisture-removal capability of the two units.

Venting is a shared hard gate

Both are refrigerated portable air conditioners. Heat has to be rejected outdoors through an exhaust route.

If the intended room cannot accommodate a practical hose/window arrangement, neither model should receive a strong PIQSY Match merely because one has more capacity or better controls.

This installation gate should be resolved before comparing smart features, noise claims or current price.

Owner Evidence does not reverse Product Fit

PACEL110 has some governed exact-model owner evidence, including analysed confirmed-purchase records from The Good Guys, with syndicated and aggregate-only sources kept separate.

GentleJet's exact owner corpus is much thinner.

That difference affects confidence in ownership themes, not the physical facts above. A deeper review pool cannot turn PACEL110 into an inverter model, and thin GentleJet reviews do not remove its verified 3.7kW/inverter architecture.

Which one should you buy?

Choose PACEL110ERFWIFI if

  • 2.9kW stated cooling is appropriate for the room/load;
  • built-in app and voice control will actually be used;
  • Eco Real Feel is useful to your comfort workflow;
  • fixed-speed cooling is acceptable;
  • heating is not required.

Choose GentleJet if

  • the room/load calls for more cooling headroom;
  • inverter compressor control is a priority;
  • the stronger lower-bound sound-pressure evidence matters;
  • verified built-in Wi-Fi is not a requirement;
  • heating is not required.

Price comes after the architecture decision

Current retail prices can move substantially during hot-weather demand and promotions.

PIQSY therefore does not hard-code one model as the “better value”. First decide whether you need PACEL110's connected-control workflow or GentleJet's higher-capacity inverter architecture. Then compare current delivered price and availability.

PIQSY conclusion

Choose PACEL110ERFWIFI for built-in smart control and Eco Real Feel after 2.9kW capacity and venting fit are established.

Choose GentleJet for 3.7kW cooling, inverter operation and stronger lower-bound sound-pressure evidence.

If reverse-cycle heating is mandatory, skip both and move to a product such as the Midea MPPD33H or Hyundai HY13KSPACPA instead.
