Shark HP072ANZ vs Dyson HushJet: Low-Maintenance Simplicity or Quiet Smart Control?

Compare Shark HP072ANZ and Dyson HushJet on their 1-ACH room claims, missing CADR, filter-life conditions, acoustics, app control and compact-room fit.

The decision

For a small room, should I choose HP072ANZ for compact local low-maintenance use or HushJet for quiet connected control when neither publishes CADR?

Decision reasoning

Why the choice changes.

The decision

These compact purifiers are easier to separate by ownership workflow than by the room-size numbers on the box.

Choose the Shark HP072ANZ when compact placement, local automatic sensing and infrequent filter replacement are the main priorities.

Choose the Dyson HushJet when published acoustic evidence, MyDyson control and scheduling matter enough to justify a different filtration and ownership architecture.

What changes the choice

The headline room sizes do not establish a performance winner

Shark publishes 23 m² for HP072 and Dyson publishes 100 m² for HushJet, but both headline figures are explicitly based on 1 ACH.

That makes them low-turnover manufacturer sizing statements, not proof that HushJet delivers rapid purification across 100 m² or that Shark's 23 m² figure represents a directly comparable high-ACH limit.

Neither gives you a governed CADR

Neither exact Australian product has a governed published CADR. Shark's area claim and 16 W power figure are not converted into clean-air delivery.

Dyson publishes 70 L/s airflow in Max mode, but total appliance airflow is not automatically CADR. If transparent clean-air delivery is a hard sizing requirement, neither is the cleanest evidence case in the category.

Dyson has the stronger published acoustics evidence

Dyson publishes 24 dB in Sleep Mode and 41 dB at maximum purification, giving useful context at both ends of operation.

HP072 does not have a governed directly comparable noise range. That gives Dyson the stronger published acoustics case, not a laboratory-proven universal quietness win.

MyDyson is the clearest control advantage

HushJet supports the MyDyson app, schedules, Auto/Sleep modes, PM2.5 monitoring and compatible voice services.

HP072 uses CleanSense IQ and automatic local operation but has no governed app-control path. If remote control or scheduled operation is part of the brief, the architecture split is clear.

Both long-life filter claims remain conditional

Shark's NeverChange5 claim is up to five years under its stated GB/T18801-2015 P.CCM basis. Dyson states five years for its electrostatic filter under GB/T18801-2022 and 12-hours-per-day assumptions, while noting that life varies with pollution.

Those propositions can reduce replacement frequency, but neither is treated as a guaranteed five-year interval or converted into a fixed multi-year cost saving from today's filter prices.

When HP072ANZ is the better fit

Choose Shark when the job is a compact, local, set-and-forget purifier with a conditional long-filter-life proposition and you do not need app control or a published CADR.

When HushJet is the better fit

Choose Dyson when MyDyson control and stronger published acoustic evidence are hard requirements and its electrostatic particle-filtration architecture matches your preference.

When neither is the obvious fit

Choose a model with a resolved CADR when precise airflow-based room sizing matters. Neither should be selected simply because one manufacturer prints a larger square-metre number.

PIQSY conclusion

HP072ANZ is the simpler low-maintenance compact option; HushJet is the quieter-on-paper connected option. Their 1-ACH coverage headlines are context, not the deciding comparison.
