These two fans approach room airflow from very different directions.
Choose the Philips CX3550/01 when you need directional aiming and automation: it is a 2-in-1 pedestal/tabletop design with 90° oscillation, 30° vertical tilt, Wi-Fi/app scheduling, voice control and a verified 19–46 dB(A) manufacturer noise range.
Choose the Shark TurboBlade Ultra TF202S when you need wide shared-room coverage and reconfigurable airflow geometry: it offers 180° oscillation, 10 speeds and vertical or horizontal Air Blanket configurations.
The differences that actually change the choice
Philips aims; Shark spreads
The Philips can oscillate through 90° and tilt vertically through 30°. The distinction matters when the breeze needs to be aimed at a bed, desk, sofa or a particular height rather than simply swept across the widest possible arc.
Shark takes the opposite approach. Its 180° oscillation is designed for a much broader horizontal sweep, and the body can run in vertical or horizontal Air Blanket configurations. That makes the format more compelling when several people or a wide seating zone need direct airflow.
If your recurring problem is “I cannot point the fan where I need it,” Philips solves that more directly. If it is “one fan needs to cover a much wider zone,” Shark has the more relevant architecture.
Philips is the connected option; Shark keeps control local
Philips adds Wi-Fi/app scheduling and voice control. That can matter in a bedroom or office where you want the fan to start before you enter, run to a routine or change without reaching for controls.
Shark has a remote and 10 speed settings but no governed app or voice-control capability. Its extra complexity is physical rather than connected: more speed granularity and transformable airflow geometry.
This distinction is important to keep clear. A smart fan is not automatically the more capable room fan, and a transformable fan is not automatically the more convenient one. Choose the control system that solves the friction you actually experience.
Shark gives you much finer manual speed adjustment
Philips has three speed settings plus Sleep and Natural modes. Shark has 10 speed settings plus Natural Breeze and Breeze Boost.
Ten speeds are useful if you frequently fine-tune airflow for different distances, people or times of day. Three speeds are easier to operate and may be entirely adequate if you use a fan more conventionally.
Do not pay attention to the larger number unless you will actually use the extra control granularity.
Philips has cleaner bedroom-noise evidence
Philips publishes 19–46 dB(A) for the exact CX3550/01. For PIQSY, that provides a governed basis for treating low-speed and Sleep-mode use as a documented part of the product's bedroom proposition.
Shark's frozen exact-model record does not contain an equivalent verified dB range. That does not mean Shark is necessarily loud; it means PIQSY does not have evidence to claim a noise-number win for it.

Both manufacturers make long-range airflow claims, but PIQSY does not turn them into a laboratory ranking
Philips states 2562 m³/h airflow and a manufacturer air-throw figure of 30 m. Shark states air acceleration up to 20 m.
They are manufacturer claims from different products and test contexts. PIQSY does not treat “30 m versus 20 m” as proof that Philips delivers better useful airflow in your room, nor does it compare Philips' m³/h figure with a Shark metric that is not expressed the same way.
Use these specifications as evidence that both are intended for room-scale airflow. Let aiming, sweep and control architecture decide the fit unless you have comparable independent performance testing.
The physical configurations have different space consequences
Philips is listed at 40.0 × 37.2 × 125.0 cm in its pedestal configuration and weighs 6 kg. Its 2-in-1 design can also be used as a tabletop fan.
Shark weighs 6.5 kg. In vertical form it is 130 cm high and 25 cm wide; in horizontal form the configured width extends to 80 cm.
The horizontal mode can be valuable for broad airflow, but it also needs substantially more lateral room. Measure the place where you intend to use that configuration before treating transformation as a free benefit.
Choose Philips CX3550/01 when
- you need vertical tilt to aim airflow at a specific height or seating position;
- app scheduling or voice control will be used regularly;
- a pedestal/tabletop 2-in-1 format gives you useful placement flexibility;
- a verified 19–46 dB(A) manufacturer noise range matters for bedroom planning;
- three speeds plus Sleep/Natural modes are enough for your routine.
Choose Shark TurboBlade Ultra when
- 180° oscillation solves a real wide-room coverage problem;
- vertical and horizontal Air Blanket configurations suit how people are positioned in the room;
- you want 10 manual speed levels without adding another connected appliance;
- remote control is enough and app/voice automation is unnecessary;
- you have the space required for the wider horizontal configuration when you intend to use it.
Neither is the obvious fit when
Neither is designed for cordless outdoor use or misting. If the fan must move to a balcony, patio or anywhere without a nearby outlet, a cordless architecture such as the Shark FlexBreeze Pro Mist addresses a different requirement.
If you specifically want a conventional slim tower with less physical adjustability and a simpler floor footprint, the Philips CX5535/00 is a more direct alternative.

Choose Philips when targeted airflow plus smart automation is the job. The 30° tilt, 2-in-1 pedestal/tabletop structure, app/voice control and documented noise range make it the more coherent fit for a directed, scheduled room routine.
