Dyson AM07 vs Shark TurboBlade Ultra: Bladeless Simplicity or Wider Coverage?

Compare Dyson AM07 and Shark TurboBlade Ultra by sweep, weight, control granularity, transformable airflow and room-placement trade-offs.

The decision

Does the Dyson AM07's light bladeless format suit me better, or does Shark TurboBlade Ultra's 180-degree transformable coverage justify the larger design?

Decision reasoning

Why the choice changes.

The decision

Both are premium-positioned mains-powered room fans with 10 airflow settings, yet they solve the room-airflow problem in almost opposite ways.

Choose the Dyson AM07 when you want a light, narrow-base tower that is easy to reposition, with 10 airflow settings, remote control, sleep timer and 70° oscillation.

Choose the Shark TurboBlade Ultra TF202S when you want much wider 180° oscillation and transformable vertical/horizontal airflow geometry, accepting a substantially heavier 6.5 kg body.

What is actually similar

Both give you 10 speed settings and a remote, and neither exact governed model uses app or voice control. Both are mains-powered and neither is a cordless outdoor fan.

This is not mainly a controls comparison. The purchase decision changes when you look at coverage geometry, physical size and carrying weight.

The differences that actually change the choice

Seventy degrees versus 180 degrees is the biggest functional split

Dyson's governed AM07 specification lists 70° oscillation. Shark lists 180° oscillation.

The gap matters when one fan needs to pass a direct breeze across widely separated seats or a broad living area. Shark's wider sweep is the more relevant architecture for that job.

But wider is not always better. If the fan is aimed mainly at one bed, one desk or one sofa zone, a 180° sweep can be unnecessary. The AM07's narrower range may be entirely adequate for a more focused placement.

Shark can change airflow geometry; Dyson stays a conventional vertical tower

The AM07 remains a slim vertical tower. Its governed dimensions include a 23 cm base diameter, 1007 mm height and 2.85 kg weight.

TurboBlade can be used in vertical or horizontal Air Blanket configurations. In vertical form it is 130 cm high and 25 cm wide; in horizontal form the configured width extends to 80 cm.

The reconfiguration matters when you want a broad wall-like airflow pattern. It also creates a placement trade-off: the horizontal configuration requires much more lateral room than the AM07's narrow base.

Dyson is dramatically easier to move

The AM07 weighs 2.85 kg. TurboBlade weighs 6.5 kg.

If the fan regularly moves from bedroom to office to living room, that gap is not a minor specification. The Dyson is less than half the Shark's listed weight.

If the fan will stay in one position, Shark's extra mass is less important and the wider/transformed airflow can matter more.

Do not turn Dyson's 500 L/s and Shark's 20 m claim into a fake performance contest

Dyson states airflow up to 500 L/s. Shark states air acceleration up to 20 m.

They are different manufacturer metrics. PIQSY does not convert them into a synthetic “power” score or claim one product moves more useful air on the basis of unlike test measures.

The cleaner conclusion comes from the physical evidence: Shark has broader governed sweep and transformable geometry; Dyson has a lighter, narrower conventional tower format.

Neither is the connected-home option

The governed AM07 record has remote control and sleep timer, but no app or voice control.

The governed TurboBlade record also has a remote but no app or voice control.

If schedules, voice assistants or temperature-linked automation are central to the purchase, neither product solves that need. The Levoit 42-inch Smart Pro and Philips CX3550/01 are more relevant alternatives.

Noise should not be used to pick a winner here

Neither governed record contains a canonical exact-model dB range PIQSY can use for this comparison. That means the article should not infer that the bladeless Dyson is quieter because of its design, nor that Shark's Breeze modes imply a specific sound advantage.

For noise-sensitive buyers, choose from products with cleaner exact-model noise documentation rather than relying on assumptions about fan architecture.

Choose Dyson AM07 when

  • the fan will be moved between rooms regularly;
  • a narrow 23 cm base is easier to place beside furniture or in a bedroom;
  • 70° oscillation covers the area you actually need;
  • 10 physical airflow levels, remote and sleep timer are enough;
  • you value a visually simple tower more than transformable coverage.

Choose Shark TurboBlade Ultra when

  • 180° oscillation solves a broad shared-room coverage problem;
  • horizontal Air Blanket mode is useful for the shape of your seating or room;
  • you want 10 speed levels plus Natural Breeze and Breeze Boost;
  • the fan will mostly stay in one place, so 6.5 kg weight is not a recurring inconvenience;
  • you have enough lateral space for the horizontal configuration when you plan to use it.

Neither is the obvious fit when

If you need app scheduling, voice control or temperature-linked automation, look at the connected Levoit or Philips alternatives instead.

If you need cordless patio or outdoor use, neither mains-powered tower solves that job; a FlexBreeze model uses a different portable architecture.

PIQSY conclusion

Choose the Dyson AM07 when low weight, a narrow base and straightforward 10-step tower operation solve your room problem. Its strongest fit is physical simplicity and easy repositioning, not a claim of universal premium performance.

Choose the Shark TurboBlade Ultra when broad and reconfigurable airflow is the reason you are shopping. The 180° sweep and vertical/horizontal modes materially change what one fan can cover.

There is no evidence-grounded universal winner. The decision is portable simplicity versus wide transformable coverage.
