Dyson V11 Advanced vs V15 Detect: Capacity and Runtime or Dust Feedback?

A decision-first comparison of Dyson V11 Advanced and V15 Detect for shoppers deciding whether hard-floor illumination and particle sensing are worth stepping up from the simpler 60-minute-class V11.

The decision

Is Dyson V15 Detect's hard-floor illumination and particle sensing useful enough to justify stepping up from the V11 Advanced when runtime and bin capacity are already similar?

Decision reasoning

Why the choice changes.

The decision

Choose the Dyson V11 Advanced when you want 60-minute-class runtime, a 0.77L bin and a click-in battery without paying specifically for hard-floor dust illumination and particle feedback.

Choose the Dyson V15 Detect Absolute when Fluffy Optic illumination and particle sensing with automatic power response would actually change how you clean.

What actually separates them

Runtime and bin capacity do not justify the V15 step-up

Both products sit at up to 60 minutes stated runtime, and both current records carry a 0.77L bin. If those are the features you care about, the V11 already solves the problem.

The V15 only becomes the stronger choice when its feedback layer is useful enough to justify moving up.

V15 is the hard-floor feedback specialist

The V15 adds Fluffy Optic illumination and piezo dust sensing with automatic power response. Those features are most relevant in hard-floor-heavy homes where seeing fine dust changes cleaning behaviour.

If you mostly want conventional whole-home vacuuming and do not care about particle feedback, they can become expensive extras rather than meaningful decision advantages.

Weight is close enough that it should not dominate

Dyson lists the V11 Advanced at 3.0kg and the V15 Detect at 3.1kg. That 100g difference is small compared with the much larger step between these models and lighter vacuums such as the V8.

So this comparison should not be decided by weight alone.

Do not use suction as the shortcut

The governed V11 source itself contains conflicting suction figures. PIQSY therefore does not use Air Watts as the deciding claim here.

The more defensible distinction is V11 = longer-runtime conventional Dyson workflow; V15 = that same runtime class plus visual and particle feedback.

Choose the V11 Advanced when

  • you want 60-minute-class runtime and a 0.77L bin;
  • click-in battery flexibility matters;
  • you do not need illuminated hard-floor cleaning;
  • you want to avoid paying for sensing you will not use.

Choose the V15 Detect when

  • hard-floor dust visibility matters;
  • particle feedback changes how thoroughly you clean;
  • automatic response to detected debris is useful;
  • you accept paying for the Detect layer rather than more runtime or bin capacity.

PIQSY conclusion

If you simply want a capable 60-minute-class Dyson, the V11 Advanced is the cleaner value proposition. The V15 earns the step-up only when dust visibility and sensing are part of the job you actually want the vacuum to do.
