What matters
Why it earns consideration — and why you might skip it.
Who it fits
The XGIMI MoGo 4 is for people who want a projector to be easy to live with and easy to move, not just impressive on a specification sheet. At 1.31kg, with a built-in battery, a 360-degree stand, Google TV with Netflix and integrated Harman/Kardon speakers, it is designed around taking fewer accessories with you and spending less time setting up.
That makes it especially easy to understand for bedrooms, ceiling projection, moving between rooms or occasional movie nights away from your normal TV setup. The compromise is equally clear: this is a 1080p, 450 ISO-lumen portable projector, so portability and convenience are taking priority over native 4K and high light output.

What changes the decision
Is it genuinely easy to move around and set up?
This is the MoGo 4's biggest advantage. At 1.31kg, it is light enough to move between rooms without treating relocation as a project. The built-in battery means you do not always have to set it up beside a power point, and the 360-degree stand lets you change the direction of the image without immediately reaching for a separate tripod or mount.
That combination matters more than any one feature by itself. If you want to move from a living room to a bedroom, point the image higher on a wall or use the projector somewhere temporarily, the product is already designed around that behaviour.
XGIMI also publishes a maximum noise figure of 28dB at 1 metre. That is useful context for bedroom use, although We have not independently measured how noticeable the fan is in different picture modes or room conditions.
If the projector will live permanently in one spot and stay plugged in all year, much of this convenience becomes less valuable. At that point, a larger fixed projector can make more sense because you are no longer benefiting from the MoGo 4's main reason to exist.
Will 450 ISO lumens be enough for your room?
XGIMI rates the MoGo 4 at 450 ISO lumens. The practical message is more important than the number: this is a portable projector that is better matched to darker or controlled-light viewing than bright daytime use.
If your normal plan is a bedroom at night, lights dimmed or curtains closed, that fits the product's positioning much better. If you expect to watch sport or TV in a bright room with lots of uncontrolled daylight, this is where you should question the MoGo 4 before worrying about battery life or smart features.
Also be careful when comparing it with a projector advertised in ANSI lumens. ISO and ANSI are different measurement conventions, so the numbers should not be treated as if they are on one simple brightness scale.
XGIMI lists a 40-200 inch image range, but that should not be read as a promise that every size will look equally convincing in every room. The larger you make a projected image, the more important room light becomes. Treat the range as setup capability, not as a recommendation to automatically aim for the maximum.
Is 1080p enough for the way you will use it?
The MoGo 4 is 1920 x 1080 Full HD, not native 4K. Whether that matters depends on why you want a portable projector.
If the main goal is easy movie nights, bedroom viewing or moving the projector around, 1080p may be an acceptable trade because you are getting the battery, low weight, stand and integrated streaming in the same compact package.
If you are buying specifically because you want a very large image and native 4K detail is non-negotiable, do not talk yourself into the MoGo 4 because the rest of the feature list is convenient. A compact 4K model is the more relevant comparison.
This is also why screen size matters. The product can create a large image, but the value of 1080p versus 4K becomes more important as your expectations for image size and viewing detail rise. Decide which is the harder requirement: portability or native 4K.
Can you really watch a full movie on battery?
XGIMI rates the 71.28Wh battery for up to 2.5 hours of video in Eco mode. That is useful, but the phrase “up to” and the Eco-mode condition matter.
Think of the battery as freedom from the power cable for a normal viewing session rather than a guarantee of all-evening use at any setting. Higher brightness, different processing or other usage conditions should not be assumed to deliver the same runtime unless XGIMI states they do.
If you mostly use the projector near a socket, the battery is still convenient because you can relocate it temporarily without immediately rearranging cables. If you regularly need longer sessions away from mains power, the 2.5-hour Eco figure becomes a hard planning limit rather than a bonus.
This is one of the clearest buying questions on the MoGo 4: do you actually need battery operation, or do you just like the idea of it? If the projector will almost always be plugged in, put more weight on brightness and resolution instead.
How good is it for gaming?
The MoGo 4 can be used for gaming, but the setup mode changes the latency. XGIMI publishes input lag of up to 20ms with automatic keystone processing off and up to 56ms with it on.
That creates a real trade-off. One of the reasons to buy the MoGo 4 is its easy setup, but if you want the lower published gaming latency, you should expect to position the projector more carefully and rely less on automatic correction.
For casual gaming, the convenience of automatic image setup may matter more than squeezing latency down. If responsiveness is one of your main purchase criteria, the 20ms condition is the one to focus on, and you should be comfortable setting the projector up more deliberately.
So yes, gaming belongs in the MoGo 4 conversation, but it is not a gaming-first projector in the same way as a model built around high-refresh low-latency modes. Its strength is still portability.
How much gear does Google TV save you from carrying?
Google TV with Netflix is built in, and the projector has 2 x 6W Harman/Kardon speakers. That matters because a portable projector becomes much less portable if you also need a streaming stick, extra power adapter and speaker every time you move it.
For simple viewing, the MoGo 4 can handle the picture, streaming system and basic audio in one unit. XGIMI also lists four years of OTA support, which gives you a stated software-support window rather than leaving updates completely undefined.
That does not guarantee that every streaming service or app will remain available for the entire life of the projector, so check any must-have service before buying. The Australian warranty listed for the product is 12 months, which is also worth knowing if you expect this to become a regularly moved household device.
The reason to choose the MoGo 4 is not that any one of these features is unique. It is that battery, stand, streaming and speakers reduce the number of extra decisions you have to make every time you use it.

Who should choose something else
Stay with the MoGo 4 if moving it around, running without a power cable and having streaming built in are things you will genuinely use. If those conveniences are secondary, another projector may give more of what you actually care about.
- Switch to BenQ GV50 when you still want a bedroom or ceiling-friendly portable projector but want to compare a different portable design.
- Choose Hisense P1 when a brighter portable-laser option matters more than keeping the MoGo 4's lighter battery-first approach.
- Switch to LG CineBeam Q when compact native 4K matters more than having a built-in battery.
If your projector will stay on the same cabinet beside the same power point every day, the MoGo 4 loses much of its advantage. If you will actually move it, aim it in different directions and use it away from mains power, its compromises make much more sense.
PIQSY conclusion
The MoGo 4 is strongest when portability is not just a feature you like on paper, but something you will use regularly.
At 1.31kg, with a battery, rotating stand, Google TV and built-in speakers, it removes a lot of the friction that normally comes with moving a projector around. In return, you accept 1080p resolution and a 450 ISO-lumen brightness rating that is better suited to controlled light.
If you want one projector to live permanently in a bright room or native 4K is a must-have, look elsewhere. If you want a projector that is genuinely easy to pick up, reposition and start using, the MoGo 4 has a much clearer reason to buy.
