XGIMI AURA 2 vs Hisense PT1 4K TriChroma Laser Cinema
AURA 2 vs PT1: two premium 4K ultra-short-throw cinemas with very different prices, smart platforms and integrated audio approaches.
The switch
Both solve the same UST room problem; the decision is whether AURA 2's premium XGIMI package justifies roughly $2,900 more than PT1 at the prices we checked.

Decision snapshot
Start with the fit, not the spreadsheet.

Decision reasoning
Why the choice changes.
What you'll actually notice
These two projectors solve the same basic problem: they let you build a very large screen at the front of the room without putting a projector behind the sofa. That means the real comparison is not “which one is more premium?” It is whether the AURA 2 gives you enough extra to justify paying roughly $2,900 more at the prices we checked.
Both still need careful cabinet and screen planning. Both are designed for a serious living-room setup. The price gap therefore deserves more weight than small differences in smart software or speaker wattage.
If the PT1 fits your furniture and its apps cover what you use, it is difficult to ignore the value difference. The AURA 2 needs its exact design, Android TV experience or installation fit to matter specifically to you.
What changes the choice
Do both fit the same kind of room?
Yes. Both are ultra-short-throw 4K projectors designed to sit at the front of the room and create roughly 90-150 inch class images.
AURA 2 publishes a 0.177:1 throw ratio and 90-150 inch range. PT1 publishes an 80-150 inch range. In both cases, cabinet depth, projector height and screen alignment are part of the purchase. If you do not want to design the front of the room around UST, neither is the right product.
Can you compare the brightness figures directly?
AURA 2 is rated at 2300 ISO lumens. PT1 is rated at 2500 ANSI lumens.
ISO and ANSI are different conventions, so the 2500-versus-2300 numbers should not be treated as a clean 200-lumen Hisense victory. Both are positioned as serious living-room UST projectors. Screen choice and ambient light remain more important than pretending the two numbers share one scale.
Which has the stronger built-in audio package?
AURA 2 uses 4 x 15W Harman/Kardon speakers. PT1 uses 2 x 15W plus 2 x 8W with Dolby Atmos.
Both are far more substantial than the token speakers in many projectors. Wattage does not settle sound quality, but either can plausibly reduce the urgency of buying a soundbar. If you already own external audio, this difference should carry very little weight.
What about smart platforms and premium formats?
AURA 2 uses Android TV 11 and supports Dolby Vision plus IMAX Enhanced. PT1 uses VIDAA and also supports Dolby Vision / IMAX features in its Australian version.
The smart system should be judged by your app needs, not brand familiarity alone. If you already plan to use Apple TV or another external streamer, this is a minor difference. The UST room fit and price gap are much more important.
Can AURA 2 justify the price gap?
The prices we checked were roughly $6,399 for AURA 2 and $3,499 for PT1. That is a very large difference between products solving the same basic UST job.
AURA 2 needs you to value its specific XGIMI design, 0.177:1 implementation and audio/smart package enough to pay a premium. For many shoppers, PT1's lower price will be difficult to ignore once both fit the room. The decision should be evidence-led, not prestige-led.
The practical choice
Start with PT1 unless you can name a clear reason the AURA 2 fits your room or preferences better. The lower price leaves much more room in the budget for the screen, cabinet or external audio.
Choose AURA 2 when its specific throw geometry, Android TV setup or XGIMI design solves something the PT1 does not.
If you do not want to plan the room around a UST cabinet at all, stop comparing these two. A conventional premium projector will be easier to live with.
When to choose XGIMI AURA 2
- You specifically prefer XGIMI's UST design and Android TV implementation.
- Its 0.177:1 installation geometry suits your furniture plan.
- You are comfortable paying a substantial premium for the exact package.
When to choose Hisense PT1
- You want a premium UST system at a much lower price.
- VIDAA covers your streaming needs.
- The Hisense room geometry works for your cabinet and screen.
Choose neither when
Choose neither if you do not want a fixed UST installation; Hisense C3 or XGIMI HORIZON 20 offers more conventional placement flexibility.
PIQSY conclusion
Both solve the same UST room problem; the decision is whether AURA 2's premium XGIMI package justifies roughly $2,900 more than PT1 at the prices we checked.
The best choice is the one that removes the bigger compromise in your actual room; a small specification advantage should not override placement, use case or workflow.
