Decision reasoning
Why the choice changes.
The practical choice
Choose the Ninja Luxe Café Premier ES601 when you want one guided machine for espresso, filter coffee and rapid cold brew, with built-in scales and hands-free milk texturing.
Choose the De'Longhi La Specialista Opera EC9555M when you want a more conventional manual-milk espresso workflow with integrated grinding, Smart Tamping and dedicated Cold Brew / Espresso Cool presets.
Both reduce some espresso guesswork, but Ninja broadens the coffee formats and automates milk; Opera stays closer to a traditional all-in-one manual espresso machine.
Ninja solves a broader household brief
Ninja Luxe Café Premier is built as a 3-in-1 espresso, filter-coffee and rapid-cold-brew system.
That is the first decision point. If a household regularly makes filter coffee as well as espresso-based drinks, the Ninja can remove the need for a second brewer.
Opera does not pursue that multi-format role. Its five preset drinks include Cold Brew and Espresso Cool, but the machine remains centred on a guided manual espresso architecture rather than full filter-coffee versatility.
Guidance happens differently
Ninja combines an integrated grinder, built-in scales and Barista Assist to recommend grind size and adjust brew parameters across its supported formats.
Opera combines an integrated grinder with 15 settings and a Smart Tamping Station.
Ninja therefore distributes guidance across grinding, weighing and multiple drink types. Opera focuses the assistance more tightly around the espresso puck workflow.
Neither approach is automatically better. The useful choice is whether you want multi-format guidance or a more conventional espresso-first routine.
Milk can decide the pair immediately
Ninja's Dual Froth System provides hands-free milk texturing.
Opera uses a manual steam wand.
If milk technique is something you want removed from the morning routine, Ninja has the structural advantage. If steaming milk manually is part of the craft you want to retain, Opera preserves that involvement.
Both address cold coffee—but not identically
Ninja includes rapid cold brew within its 3-in-1 architecture.
Opera includes Cold Brew and Espresso Cool presets.
Those are both legitimate cold-drink capabilities, but PIQSY does not assume the programs produce the same drink or use the same method. The decision is whether cold coffee is frequent enough to matter and whether filter coffee belongs in the same system.
Opera provides more verified grinder detail; Ninja's unresolved specs stay blank
Opera's canonical record verifies 15 grind settings.
The current Australian Ninja record verifies an integrated grinder and Barista Assist, but PIQSY does not invent an exact grinder-setting count, tank capacity, hopper capacity or portafilter diameter where those fields remain unresolved.
A complete-looking comparison table is not worth weakening product identity or fact governance.
Ninja is smaller on the current physical record
Ninja measures 32.9 W × 34 D × 37 H cm.
Opera measures 38 W × 37 D × 44.5 H cm.
Ninja is narrower, shallower and shorter in this pair. Opera remains a substantial benchtop appliance, especially where overhead clearance is limited.
That said, Ninja's accessories and multi-format workflow may require more surrounding storage. Measure the working zone, not only the chassis.
Cleaning follows the different scopes
Ninja combines grinder maintenance, portafilter components, milk-system care, filter/cold pathways, drip tray and descaling.
Opera combines grinder, portafilter, Smart Tamping area, manual steam wand, drip tray and descaling.
The Ninja removes manual milk technique but introduces a broader set of drink pathways. Opera is more focused but retains immediate steam-wand cleaning after milk use.
When each product is the better fit
Choose Ninja Luxe Café Premier if
- filter coffee and espresso are both recurring needs;
- hands-free milk matters;
- rapid cold brew will be used;
- built-in scales and Barista Assist reduce useful friction;
- its smaller current footprint suits the kitchen.
Choose La Specialista Opera if
- espresso remains the main format;
- manual milk is desirable or acceptable;
- Smart Tamping covers the assistance you want;
- Cold Brew / Espresso Cool are useful without needing filter coffee;
- you prefer a more conventional guided-manual espresso workflow.
PIQSY conclusion
Ninja Luxe Café Premier is the stronger fit when the kitchen brief is genuinely multi-format. Opera is the stronger fit when espresso remains central and manual milk is part of the desired experience.
If filter coffee and hands-free milk are rarely used, Ninja's broader architecture is unnecessary. If manual milk is a deal-breaker, Opera is the wrong format regardless of its cold presets.
