Choose the Midea MPPD33H when i-Sense / Follow Me remote temperature sensing is more useful than built-in voice control and you accept its much heavier body.

Both solve the cooling-and-heating requirement
Midea's governed AU record specifies about 3.38kW cooling and 2.81kW heating.
Hyundai's current Australian sell-state page specifies 3.8kW cooling and 2.8kW heating.
Hyundai therefore has the higher stated cooling capacity by about 0.42kW, while the heating figures are effectively the same tier. That does not prove Hyundai will outperform Midea in every room; actual load and installation still matter.
If heating is not needed, there are more cooling-only alternatives and this two-product comparison becomes unnecessarily restrictive.
Midea's i-Sense is the distinctive comfort-control feature
MPPD33H supports i-Sense / Follow Me, allowing the remote to act as the temperature reference near the user rather than relying only on the sensor at the appliance.
That can matter when the portable AC sits beside a window or wall while the occupied zone is several metres away.
Hyundai's governed record does not include an equivalent Follow Me function. If remote-location temperature sensing is the feature you care about, Midea has the clearer role.
Hyundai has the stronger built-in connectivity case
HY13KSPACPA supports Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant through its built-in smart-control workflow.
Midea's Wi-Fi is optional rather than verified as standard equipment on MPPD33H.
That makes Hyundai the cleaner choice when connected control is mandatory. It does not make app control inherently more important than remote sensing; they solve different problems.
Hyundai is dramatically easier to move
Midea's exact-model record lists 37kg. Hyundai's current AU page lists 24.8kg.
That is a 12.2kg difference—large enough to matter in real room-to-room movement and storage.
Midea is also physically larger in the governed records at 765H × 466W × 397D mm, compared with Hyundai at 698H × 298W × 335D mm.
Neither is a carry-anywhere appliance, and both need exhaust hardware in cooling mode, but Hyundai has the clearly easier mobility profile.
Electrical input should stay source-specific
Midea's governed record uses 1,450W rated cooling input from the official AU manual.
Hyundai's current Australian sell-state page lists 1,461W cooling consumption and 1,120W heating consumption. A service document exposes conflicting input fields, so PIQSY keeps the current sell-state values rather than averaging sources.
Those input figures are specifications, not sufficient evidence by themselves to declare one model more energy-efficient in every use case.
Room guidance is not a cross-brand performance test
Midea publishes 16–23m² manufacturer guidance. Hyundai publishes up to 27m² guidance through its Australian distributor.
The ranges are useful orientation, but they are not controlled side-by-side test results. PIQSY does not conclude that Hyundai will cool exactly four additional square metres under every condition.
Use stated capacity plus real heat load rather than comparing vendor m² numbers as if they were one standardised test.
Venting remains required in cooling mode
Both are refrigerated portable ACs and still require an exhaust path when cooling.
Each comes with window/exhaust hardware in its governed Australian configuration. Before comparing sensors, apps or current price, make sure the intended opening and hose route are practical.
Reverse-cycle capability adds heating; it does not make cooling exhaust disappear.
