Decision reasoning
Why the choice changes.
What you'll actually notice
The TK710 is the more focused projector. The HORIZON 20 is the more complete entertainment device.
BenQ gives you a straightforward gaming-first setup: strong stated brightness, low-lag modes and useful optical adjustment, but you are expected to bring your own streaming and audio setup. XGIMI adds Google TV, stronger built-in audio and much wider lens shift while still taking gaming seriously.
So the difference is not whether one can game and the other cannot. It is whether you want the projector to be one part of an AV system or the centre of the whole entertainment setup.
What changes the choice
Which has the stronger gaming case?
TK710 publishes 16.7ms at 4K/60Hz and 4.2ms at 1080p/240Hz. HORIZON 20 publishes 3ms at 4K/60Hz, 2.2ms at 1080p/120Hz and 1ms at 1080p/240Hz under its stated Game Mode conditions.
The numbers come from different manufacturers and should not be treated as lab-equivalent measurements, but XGIMI's documented gaming ambition is clearly stronger. TK710 remains a genuine gaming projector; HORIZON 20 adds more aggressive latency claims alongside its all-in-one features.
How do their installation options differ?
TK710 has a 1.15-1.50:1 throw ratio, 1.3x optical zoom and +10% vertical lens shift. HORIZON 20 uses 1.2-1.5:1, optical zoom and much wider V±120% / H±45% lens shift.
Both need conventional throw distance. HORIZON 20 gives you more optical freedom once that distance exists. If your mount position is awkward, that extra lens shift can matter every time you set the room up.
Can you compare 3200 ANSI with 3200 ISO?
No. TK710 is rated at 3200 ANSI lumens and HORIZON 20 at 3200 ISO lumens.
The identical number is almost a trap: the units come from different measurement standards. Do not call them equally bright because both say 3200. Treat each as a high-output home projector and avoid making the purchase on a false numerical tie.
How much does the smart ecosystem matter?
HORIZON 20 includes Google TV and 2 x 12W Harman/Kardon speakers. TK710's option is more projector-first and expects you to bring more of the source/audio ecosystem yourself.
If you already own a console, Apple TV and sound system, TK710's simplicity can be perfectly rational. If you want one box to handle streaming, audio and projection with less setup, HORIZON 20 earns part of its higher price.
Which is better value?
TK710 is the more focused choice when gaming and fixed-room projection are the priorities. HORIZON 20 is the broader premium choice when you will use its smart system, lens shift and integrated audio as well.
The mistake is paying for HORIZON 20's extra systems and then bypassing all of them—or buying TK710 and later spending more to recreate the convenience you actually wanted.
The practical choice
Choose TK710 if you already own the console, streamer and sound system you want and mainly care about a strong fixed gaming projector.
Choose HORIZON 20 if you want one device to cover streaming, audio, movies and gaming with less extra equipment.
Do not treat the matching “3200” brightness figures as a tie. TK710 uses ANSI lumens and HORIZON 20 uses ISO lumens, so the numbers are not directly interchangeable.
The ownership difference becomes clearer once you think about the devices around the projector. TK710 works well as the display at the end of an existing setup: console, streamer and sound system do the rest. HORIZON 20 is designed to replace more of those boxes, which is useful in a cleaner living-room setup.
If you already own and like your external gear, do not pay extra simply to duplicate it inside the projector. If you want fewer remotes, fewer cables and less setup around the screen, the XGIMI's integrated approach can justify the added complexity and cost.
When to choose BenQ TK710
- You want a focused fixed gaming projector.
- You already own source and audio devices.
- You do not need broad lens shift or integrated Google TV.
When to choose XGIMI HORIZON 20
- You want gaming plus an all-in-one home-entertainment experience.
- Wide lens shift materially helps installation.
- Google TV and built-in audio reduce setup friction.
Choose neither when
Choose neither if your room needs short throw or UST; both remain conventional-throw projectors.
PIQSY conclusion
TK710 is the simpler gaming-first fixed projector; HORIZON 20 costs more but adds Google TV, wider lens shift and a much more integrated all-round home experience.
The best choice is the one that removes the bigger compromise in your actual room; a small specification advantage should not override placement, use case or workflow.

Choose the product that fits your setup.
